Building a trusted partnership

OSP Architecture is focused on delivering good customer service for its own clients and wanted an IT partner that shared this same service philosophy. The firm appointed MFC IT Services and gained an IT partner it could trust to provide responsive support services and cost-effective IT solutions.

The business requirement

High quality IT support is an absolute necessity for OSP Architecture, an established Chartered Architects practice that specialises in residential developments for large housebuilders, conservation work and commercial projects in the South East and South West of England. Forty employees work across three offices and depend on a wide range of IT applications, including specialist computer-aided design and publishing software packages, to enable them to deliver creative architectural projects and professional services for their clients.

“MFC has halved our IT support costs, while at the same time providing us with a far more tailored and effective support service.”

The services provided

MFC provides OSP with IT management and IT support and monitoring services, consistently exceeding OSP’s expectations – and doing so at a significantly lower cost than OSP’s previous IT support provider. “MFC has halved our IT support costs, while at the same time providing us with a far more tailored and effective support service,” says Julian Bohling, Partner at OSP Architecture. “In our business, we believe that good customer service is paramount and MFC shares this philosophy.”

MFC has installed remote support software on desktop computers and laptops, enabling all employees to contact an MFC technician direct, from their devices, whenever they need to. Whether employees have a problem with hardware or software, MFC responds quickly to resolve the issue and minimise business disruption.

When one employee experienced a desktop hardware failure when working from home, MFC had a replacement device ready for him to collect within a couple of hours. The device was pre-loaded with all the user’s applications and personal settings, enabling him to get back up and running again quickly. “That’s not IT support, that’s IT support plus,” Julian says.

Between Christmas and New Year, MFC worked out- of-hours to set up a new server, minimising business downtime. MFC also repurposed the old server as a back-up, to extend its life, reduce unnecessary wastage and maximise the business value that OSP gains from its prior investment in server technology. “I consider MFC to be my IT partner, working with us to improve our IT infrastructure, communications and services,” Julian says.

The pride that MFC technicians take in their work is clearly evident to anyone who looks in OSP’s IT cabinet. All the appliances have been rewired with precision and tidiness, making it a showpiece within OSP’s head office.

The services provided by MFC have been carefully tailored so that OSP receives exactly the support it needs and isn’t paying for additional services it doesn’t want. “I have complete trust in MFC,” Julian says. “MFC actually cares about our business, providing instant support when we need it and cost- efficient IT solutions. It’s an external partner that provides an in-house relationship.”

OSP appreciates MFC’s transparency when it comes to quoting for new IT equipment. “MFC passes on discounts from vendors and can supply good quality hardware at a good price,” notes Julian.

As part of the tailored IT support contract, MFC provides OSP with anti-virus software and advises it on IT security. For example, MFC is currently putting in place new plans to reinforce the firm’s ransomware protection, giving the business three lines of defence against malicious attack.

This is very reassuring for the business, as Julian explains. “MFC helps us protect our data and the data of our clients, which helps me sleep at night.”
